Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Raghubar to launch city has distribution project in Ranchi

Ranchi: Executive Director of GAIL (Eastern Region) K B Singh said that Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan and Chief Minister Raghubar Das will be launching the Ranchi City Gas Distribution Project on Friday during a function to be held at the HEC Maidan Sector 4.

Addressing the press here he said that the dignitaries under Urja Ganga and City Gas Distribution Scheme CNG Stations at Madhuvan Vihar, Ormanjhi and Doranda will be started while in Shyamali of Mecon Colony for domestic consumers supply of PNG along with the launch of CNG vehicles will also be done by them.

He said that compared to other sources of energy CNG is pro-environment as it does not have pollutants like sulfur or lead and is also safe and cheap. He said that under Urja Ganga Yojana through natural gas grid work was on to link Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal and Assam as part of which 551 kilometers of pipeline is being laid and 12 districts of Jharkhand namely Chatra, Giridih, Hazaribagh, Bokaro, Ramgarh, Dhanbad, Saraikela, Ranchi, Khunti, Gumla, Simdega and East Singhbhum will be covered. He said that the pipeline will also be used to supply gas to the fertilizers plants of Gorakhpur, Barauni and Sindri.

Adding further he said that the company in next few years will be supplying CNG to more than 1.25 lakh vehicles and PNG in more than 10.46 lakh homes for which in Ranchi and Jamshedpur 22 CNG Stations will be built.

He said that in special containers gas will be brought from Patna to Ranchi and later the gas will be supplied through Jagdishpur-Halida and Bokaro-Dhamra natural gas pipeline. He said that the construction of the pipeline will be completed by 2020.

He said that three-vehicle manufacturers TVS, Piaggio and Bajaj have agreed to provide CNG vehicles and awareness programs for autorickshaw drivers and owners is also being conducted to encourage them to shift to CNG.
