By September 30 all those who fulfill criteria to get LPG connections under Ujjwala Yojana: CM

Ranchi: Chief Minister Raghubar Das said that till September 30 all those families who will be fulfilling the criteria would be given LPG connections under the Ujjwala Yojana in the state.

Addressing a workshop organized for the district vice presidents and block presidents of the 20 point program implementation committee at the project building here over the use and safety of LPG he said that 43 lakh families in the state would be provided the connections in this scheme.

He said that there are 57 lakh families in the state out of which 43 lakh are eligible for connections and so far 32.5 lakh families have been given the gas connections. He said that on August 23 in a function to be held in Chaibasa on August 23 the scheme to give second refill of cylinder free of cost will be launched.

He said that to ensure that in any home who have got the gas connection under Ujjwala Yojana no accident takes place in every village a Ujjwala Didi has been selected who would be provided training who would be later teaching the women of the state regarding the use of LPG and security measures to be adopted.

He said that for the training of the Ujjwala Didi in every district five youth will be selected and said that in the selection of Ujjwala Didi in the 29,000 villages of the state the block president of 20 point program implementation committee will play an important role and asked them to ensure that the work is completed at any cost by September 30.

Speaking during the event vice chairman of the state-level 20 point programme implementation committee Rakesh Prasad detailed about the scheme and asked them to ensure the success of divisional level meetings which will be held on August 23 in Chaibasa, August 25 in Dumka, August 28 in Hazaribagh, August 31 in Palamu and September 3 in Gumla in which apart from the Ujjwala Didi, block president of 20 point programme implementation committee and district vice president will be present while in Chaibasa Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will also be present. 

Secretary of the Food and Civil Supplies Department Amitabh Kaushal said that there are 70 lakh homes in the state and two-wheelers was available in 25 lakh homes who will not be given free connection under Ujjwala Yojana. He said that according to the data of the state government in homes 19 lakh ration card holders there was no LPG connection but they have bikes and keeping than in account 10 lakh families will get free LPG connections.

He said that the central government has set a target to provide free LPG connections under this scheme to 8 crore people in the state and said that when the target will be achieved the scheme will be stopped. He said that the money for the free of cost cylinder will be sent in the account of the beneficiary.
