ASI caught taking bribe by ACB manages to flee by jumping from window in Latehar

Latehar: An Assistant Sub Inspector of the Jharkhand Police posted at Manika Police Station area of this district was caught taking a bribe of Rs 8,000 red-handed by the sleuths of the Anti Corruption Bureau.

However, before he could be taken away by the ACB he managed to jump off a window and fled from the spot. The culprit ASI has been identified as Ravindra Mahli. A complaint against him was registered by one Shiv Shambhu Prasad who alleged that the ASI was demanding the bribe to settle a land-related dispute.

He said that Mahli had earlier also taken a bribe in the case and for the second time he was demanding the money. After the ASI fled the ACB forced open his room from where another Rs 51,200 in cash was recovered. Police and
the ACB were both conducting a search to nab the guilty.
