Under trial commits suicide at Hazaribagh Central Jail

Hazaribagh: An undertrial inmate committed suicide by hanging himself on a tree at the Central Jail here.

The deceased has been identified as Dhirendra Yadav (25). Police said that during the counting of inmates at the afternoon one was found missing and when inquired others said that he was last seen sitting under a Peepal tree.

As soon as the jail personnel reached the spot they found him hanging from a tree. Police said that the man had used a towel and shoestring to hang himself. Later his body was sent for postmortem.

On the directions of the DC, a three-member team of the doctors has been formed who will do the postmortem.

Jail superintendent Hamid Akhtar said in a case of physical assault Dhirendra Yadav was lodged at Chatra jail and as part of crowd transfer, he was brought to the Hazaribagh central jail. He said that since it was just a week when Dhirendra was brought here, therefore, it was tough to comment on his mental condition.
