Network of roads and railways being laid in state, expansion of waterways and airways happening too: Singh

Ranchi: State’s Transport Minister CP Singh said that the state government was committed to improving the means of the transport system in the state and was working to expand the road, rail, water and air mode of traveling.

Addressing a press conference at the Suchana Bhawan here he said that in the last 4.5 years many schemes many steps have been taken for improvement of the transport system in the state and in future also many new schemes will be realized on the ground.

He said that the government has also accorded focus to reduce accident as part of which focus has been accorded on road safety. He said that 137 black spots have been identified in the state which are being improved to prevent future accidents. He said that to link the villages rural bus service has been started for which a permit fee of Rs 1 has been set and so far 646 marks has been identified.

On the other hand, for the convenience of people, AC Volvo bus service has been started. The minister said that all transport offices have been made online while all system for driving license vehicle registration tax token and a permit has been made online. On the other hand, 160 private pollution checking centers have been also set up in the state, he informed.

The transport minister said work on rail projects was on in the state as part of which on 6 railway projects Rs 6505 is being spent which included Deoghar-Dumka, Dumk a - R ampu r h a a t , R a n c h i - L o h a r d a g a - Tori, Koderma-Tilayia and Ranchi-Barkakana- Hazaribagh-Koderma.

He said that work was on in the final stages to complete the Barkana, Ranchi stretch was in the last stage. He said that soon work will commence on Namkum-Kandra, Giridih- Parasnath-Madhuban, Tori- Chatra, Chitra-Basukinath and Godda-Pakur lines will commence soon.

He said that air transport has also rapidly expanded in the state. He said that the process of land acquisition for expansion of Birsa Munda Airport was in the final stages while construction of the airport was also on in Deoghar.

The minister said that under regional connectivity mission efforts are on to commence air travel from Dumka, Bokaro and Jamshedpur. He said that at 7 tourism spots helipads is being constructed and centers for paragliding training will come up in Giridih, Dhanbad and Bokaro and in Ranchi training for aero modeling is on.
