Jharkhand government to organise Mela for bamboo artisans in Dumka on September 18 and 19

Ranchi: The Jharkhand government under the aegis of Chief Minister small and cottage Industries development board on the occasion of International Bamboo Day will be organising a two day Mela in Dumka on September 18-19. 

Addressing a press conference here Industries Secretary K Ravi Kumar said that under Chief Minister Raghubar Das the state government was working to promote local artists with the use of modern technology and high quality machines.

He said that the event will be beneficial to increase the double the income of the farmers and also create source of income for the tribal families. He said that in this event buyers from IKEA of Sweden, Dubai, Norway, Abu Dhabi and other European countries will be participating.

He said that the event will try to develop a chain for marketing of bamboo products of Jharkhand which have a great demand in national and international market. Mr Ravi Kumar said that the two day mega event is also aimed at creating direct and indirect job opportunities for the local youth.

He said  that the purpose of the Mela was to encourage local arts and handicrafts with use of modern art and use of technology. He said that the Industries department will also train the youth and the artists for digital marketing, e-marketplace and e-commerce.
