Barnwal participates in plantation drive, says water and environment conservation need of hour

Ranchi: Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Sunil Kumar Barnwal has asked the people to plant trees has it can help give a better life to the future generations.

Participating in a water conservation and plantation drive organized by the Jharkhand Urja Sancharan Nigam Limited at Kusai Colony here he recalled how in the year 2015 along with Chief Minister Raghubar Das he had planted Gulmohar saplings in Kusai colony and was now extremely happy to see that those small plants are now growing into big trees and urged the people that whenever they get an opportunity they should undertake plantation drive as its not only a good work but is also important to maintain a pure environment.

Dr Barnwal said that it was a result of the continuous efforts of the state government that forest cover in the state has increased to 33.3 percent and this should be taken for the higher however this work cannot be done without the corporation of the people.

He said that from July 12 August 15 the state government was running Jal Shakti Abhiyan as part of which on the banks of 44 rivers plantation drive is been done. He said that the chief minister himself undertook labour, plantation drive and create awareness among the people regarding environment protection and now others should take the work forward as efforts made for good purpose yield rich results.
