Jharkhand SIR: Election Commission Extends Timeline, Final Voter Roll Set for November 30

The Election Commission of India has extended the timeline for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Jharkhand, with the final publication of the revised voter list now scheduled for November 30, 2026.

The deadline had earlier been extended from October 7 to October 19. The latest extension has been granted to allow election officials additional time to dispose of pending cases, complete verification and digitise claims and objections received during the revision exercise.

The revised schedule was issued after district election officers sought more time to complete various SIR-related activities. Jharkhand Chief Electoral Officer K. Ravi Kumar has directed all district election officers to adhere to the fresh deadlines set by the Election Commission.

Under the revised schedule, first and second notices issued in cases involving non-mapping and logical discrepancies will be disposed of by October 22.

Verification of voters who fail to submit the required documents even after receiving the second notice, along with door-to-door visits by Booth Level Officers (BLOs), will be completed by October 31. Other cases that do not require notices will also be disposed of by the same date.

The digitisation of claims and objections received through Forms 6, 6A, 7 and 8 is also scheduled to be completed by October 31.

From November 1 to 12, officials will undertake home-to-roll verification and digitisation of Form 6 applications submitted by eligible citizens who were left out of the electoral roll.

Super-checking of disposed notices by District Election Officers, Roll Observers and the Chief Electoral Officer will continue from November 1 to 21.

Officials will also update notional house numbers, sketch maps, key maps and photographs of polling stations on the ECINET platform by November 23.

All claims and objections are scheduled to be disposed of by November 23. The period from November 24 to 29 will be used for data-quality checks and preparations for final publication, including obtaining the Election Commission's approval for printing the final rolls.

The final electoral roll will be published on November 30.

Officials have been directed to ensure that the revision process does not result in the exclusion of any eligible Indian citizen while preventing the inclusion of ineligible persons or foreign nationals in the electoral roll.

The latest extension gives election authorities additional time to complete verification and scrutiny before the final voter list is published.
