Land Dispute Protest Takes Unusual Turn as Man Shaves Half His Hair and Moustache Outside Giridih DC Office

A land dispute in Giridih took an unusual turn when a man staged a protest outside the district collector’s office after claiming that repeated complaints over alleged encroachment had failed to bring any action.

Kuldeep Turi, a resident of Gawan block, has been sitting in protest outside the Giridih Deputy Commissioner’s office along with his family. As a mark of protest, he shaved off the hair on one half of his head and half of his moustache, drawing attention to his demand for intervention in the land dispute.

Turi alleges that some people have illegally occupied land in his village. He claims that he has approached the local police station, administrative officials and the district administration several times, seeking removal of the alleged encroachment and action against those responsible.

According to Turi, despite repeated complaints, the dispute has not been resolved and no concrete action has been taken so far. He subsequently decided to continue his protest outside the DC office with his family.

Explaining his unusual form of protest, Turi said he had repeatedly approached the authorities in the hope of getting his grievance addressed. He alleged that when his complaints failed to produce a resolution, he resorted to shaving half his hair and moustache to draw attention to the issue.

Turi also questioned the functioning of the district administration, saying that ordinary citizens should have a clear avenue to seek redress in matters involving land and property rights.

He and his family are currently continuing their sit-in outside the DC office, demanding intervention in the disputed land and action on the complaints they have submitted.
