Gujarat Police Reach Deoghar in BRICS Bomb Threat Probe, Youth Detained

The investigation into bomb threats targeting the BRICS Summit in Delhi and the Gujarat Secretariat in Gandhinagar has now reached Jharkhand’s Deoghar, where a team of Gujarat Police has detained a young man for questioning.

The Gujarat Police team reached Deoghar as part of its probe and took the youth into custody from the Nagar police station area. He is currently being questioned. Given the sensitive nature of the investigation, police have not disclosed his identity or clarified his exact role in the case.

According to preliminary information, the threats concerning the BRICS Summit and the Gandhinagar Secretariat were sent through email. A case was registered at a police station in Gandhinagar on September 10 following the threats.

During the subsequent investigation, Gujarat Police arrested another youth and questioned him. Investigators reportedly obtained leads during that interrogation that prompted the team to travel to Deoghar.

The detained youth is now being questioned about the alleged threat emails, technical details linked to their transmission and possible contacts associated with the case. Investigators are also trying to establish whether he has a direct connection with the threats or was detained based on a lead that emerged during the investigation.

Both Gujarat Police and Deoghar Police are maintaining caution and have refrained from releasing further details while the inquiry is underway. In the absence of an official confirmation, it would be premature to draw any conclusion about the youth’s involvement.

The investigation is expected to shed more light on how the trail linked to the BRICS Summit and Gandhinagar Secretariat threats reached Deoghar and whether the detained youth has any direct connection with the case.
