Rain Turns Latu Dandtoli Road into Mud Track, Villagers Demand Permanent Road

Residents of Dandtoli in Latu village under Kemte panchayat of Raidih block are struggling with severe road conditions during the monsoon, as the unpaved stretch connecting the locality becomes waterlogged and muddy after rainfall.

The road from the Kemte panchayat building and Bazaar Dadh to Latu Dadtoli stretches for around three kilometres. Despite serving as the main access route for the locality, the road has yet to be converted into a permanent paved road.

According to residents, several portions of the road turn into deep mud whenever it rains, making it difficult even for pedestrians to walk safely. Two-wheelers and other vehicles also face considerable difficulty navigating the stretch, particularly during periods of heavy rainfall.

Around 20 families live in Dadtoli, and residents say the poor condition of the road has affected their everyday lives. Travelling to the market, taking children to school and reaching the panchayat headquarters for essential work have become particularly difficult during the rainy season.

The road condition also poses a serious challenge during medical emergencies. Residents said transporting a sick or injured person to a healthcare facility can become extremely difficult when the route is covered in mud and vehicles struggle to pass.

Villagers have urged the concerned authorities and elected representatives to inspect the road and take immediate steps towards its construction and permanent paving. They said a properly built road would provide reliable year-round connectivity to Dadtoli and significantly reduce the hardships faced by residents during the monsoon.

The villagers hope that their long-standing demand will receive attention and that work on the road will be taken up at the earliest.
