CID Summons Three JPSC Members for Questioning in Recruitment Scam Probe

Ranchi (RPS) : The Criminal Investigation Department (CID), which is probing the alleged irregularities in the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) recruitment process, has summoned three serving members of the commission for questioning as the investigation gathers momentum.
According to official sources, Dr. Ajita Bhattacharya, Dr. Anima Hansda and Dr. Jamal Ahmad have been directed to appear before the CID for interrogation. The questioning of all three members is scheduled to begin on Monday as investigators seek to ascertain their role, if any, in the alleged recruitment scam.
The development comes amid the CID's ongoing investigation into alleged irregularities in JPSC recruitment examinations. Earlier in the probe, the agency had conducted searches at the residence and office of former JPSC Chairman L. Khyangte, following which he resigned from his post. The former chairman was subsequently questioned by CID officials for nearly a week.
During the course of the investigation, the CID has so far arrested 19 persons in connection with the alleged recruitment irregularities. The agency is continuing its probe to determine the extent of the alleged malpractice and identify those responsible.
The three JPSC members summoned by the CID were appointed on September 2, 2021, after the Jharkhand government approved their appointments in August 2021.
The investigation has triggered widespread public outrage and sparked an ongoing student agitation across the state. Student organisations have been demanding the cancellation of the allegedly tainted recruitment examinations and strict action against those involved.
The issue has also dominated the Monsoon Session of the Jharkhand Assembly, where opposition parties have repeatedly disrupted proceedings over the past two days, demanding a comprehensive probe and action against those responsible. The House has witnessed multiple adjournments amid persistent protests.
On Friday, protesting students also staged a demonstration outside the Assembly, intensifying pressure on the state government to expedite the investigation and ensure accountability.
