Jharkhand students announce 11-member delegation for talks with govt; two journalists, one advocate included

Students protesting against alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations in Jharkhand have announced an 11-member delegation to hold talks with the state government.

The students have been staging a sit-in at Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium in Ranchi for the past 13 days, demanding action over alleged irregularities in examinations conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC), Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) and other recruiting agencies.

The delegation comprises eight student representatives, two journalists and an advocate. The student members are Ravindra Paswan, Piyush Kumar Singh, Ravindra Kumar Ravi, Rajesh Prasad, Neetu Kujur, Kartik Soren, Sandeep Kumar and Shalu Singh.

Journalists Shambhunath Choudhary and Vikas Verma, along with advocate Ajit Kumar, will accompany the students as guardians and advisers.

The protesters clarified that only the eight student representatives will speak during the meeting and present their demands and concerns before the government. The journalists and advocate will not put forward any demands, facts or arguments on behalf of the students.

The students also said the two journalists would not carry microphones, cameras, recording equipment or other broadcasting devices into the meeting venue.

According to the protesters, the arrangement has been made to ensure that the discussions remain peaceful, orderly and transparent.

The students have been demanding a CBI investigation into alleged irregularities in JPSC, JSSC and other recruitment examinations, action against those found responsible and greater transparency in the recruitment process.

The delegation was announced after the state government offered to hold discussions with the protesting students. The talks are expected to determine the next course of the ongoing agitation.
