Pappu Yadav alleges receiving threats after Ram Temple donation theft skit

Purnia Bihar: Independent MP Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav on Sunday alleged that he is being threatened to be "burned alive" following his act at the Parliament complex portraying the purported embezzlement of donations made at Ayodhya's Ram Temple. Further, the parliamentarian asked why questions are not being raised over those who are accused of the alleged misappropriation of temple offerings. Pappu Yadav was dressed as a monk during the act, which also saw the participation of several opposition leaders from the Congress and Samajwadi Party, drawing the ire of the BJP, Hindu organisations and seers. Speaking to reporters in Bihar's Purnia, Yadav targeted the BJP-led ruling alliance, saying, "They will not question those accused of misusing donations or ask questions to Champat Rai. They remained silent on other issues, yet they are targeting me. What will they achieve by killing or burning Pappu Yadav?" He said that Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, who has also come under fire for his cameo role in the skit, "has been consistently raising issues related to Sanatan Dharma". "An attack on Sanatan is an attack on the faith of the nation and the beliefs of millions. They have betrayed even God," Yadav remarked. Referring to the alleged misbehaviour with Jyotirmath Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati during the 2026 Magh Mela in Prayagraj, the Purnia MP said: "They even misbehaved with the Shankaracharya; no one raised their voice then." "Even when an artist dressed as Lord Hanuman was performing (during a roadshow of BJP chief Nitin Nabin in Lucknow), no one spoke against that too. Is this not my culture as well? I can wear saffron to raise the voice of saints," he added. "Now I am being abused, and murder threats are being issued against me. Even monetary prizes have been declared (for anyone who can kill me)," he alleged. Yadav asserted that both Rahul Gandhi and Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra are "standing with the religious faiths of all 100 crore people in the country." Moreover, he demanded a fair probe into the Ram Temple donation theft incident. "Fair investigation should be conducted regarding the 200 kg of silver and Rs 3300 crore which has gone missing from the Ram Temple," he said. Meanwhile, an FIR has been lodged against Pappu Yadav, Rahul Gandhi, and Samajwadi Party MP Awadhesh Prasad for "hurting religious sentiments".
