Ranchi: The Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Ranchi organized a plantation drive under the nationwide ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign at its BSNL campus, reaffirming its commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable development. The initiative witnessed enthusiastic participation from the Institute’s Director, faculty members, officers, and staff.
The programme commenced with Prof. Rajeev Srivastava, Director, IIIT Ranchi, planting the first sapling. Faculty members, officers, and staff subsequently planted saplings across various parts of the campus as part of the collective effort to enhance the campus's green cover.
Addressing the participants, Prof. Srivastava emphasized that protecting the environment is a shared responsibility and that small initiatives such as planting and nurturing trees can have a lasting positive impact. He encouraged everyone to adopt environmentally responsible practices and actively contribute to nature conservation in their daily lives.
The plantation drive was organized as part of the national ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, which encourages people to plant a tree in the name of their mother, symbolizing gratitude towards both motherhood and nature. Participants also took a pledge to care for the newly planted saplings and ensure their healthy growth, reinforcing the Institute’s commitment to maintaining a green and eco-friendly campus.
IIIT Ranchi regularly undertakes environmental awareness programmes and sustainability initiatives aimed at encouraging students and staff to play an active role in building a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future.
