

Deoghar: On the occasion of National Doctors' Day, the Indian Medical Association (IMA), Deoghar branch, organized a free health camp for senior citizens at the Old Sadar Hospital premises on Wednesday. The camp was held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and was inaugurated by Deoghar's senior-most physician and former Civil Surgeon, Dr K. N. Jha.
Around 200 senior citizens underwent comprehensive health check-ups during the camp. The services included dental examination, pulse and blood pressure monitoring, weight measurement, haemoglobin and blood sugar tests, glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c), bone mineral density assessment, pulmonary function test and ECG. Based on the test reports, doctors provided medical consultation and distributed medicines free of cost.The camp was conducted with the active participation of IMA National Vice President Dr D. Tiwari, IMA Jharkhand Vice President Dr R. N. Prasad, Joint Secretary Dr Gopal Sharan, IMA Deoghar President Dr N. C. Gandhi, Treasurer Dr Gauri Shankar, senior physicians Dr Gopal Prasad Barnwal, Dr Birendra Prasad Singh and Dr Rajeev Kumar Pandey, Vice Presidents Dr Anandbardhan and Dr Rita Thakur, Joint Secretary Dr Manjusha Jha, along with several other members.
The dental care team included Dr Satish Kumar Chaudhary, Dr Rajeev Ranjan, Dr Chetna, Dr Sneha Chandni Saha, Dr Anju, Dr Shipra, Dr Neetu and other dental practitioners, who played a significant role in the successful conduct of the camp.National Doctors' Day is observed every year on July 1 in memory of Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy, whose birth anniversary and death anniversary both fall on the same date. Besides being an eminent physician, he was a freedom fighter and an accomplished statesman. He served as the second Chief Minister of West Bengal from 1948 until his death in 1962.IMA Deoghar Secretary Dr Sanjay Kumar said a family get-together has also been organised on Wednesday evening to mark the occasion. During the programme, Dr Sikandar Singh will be felicitated for receiving the National Doctors' Day Award.
