Outstanding Performance at South Asian Championship, Honoured by His Alma Mater

Deoghar: Ayush Santoshi, a former student of Geeta Devi DAV Public School, Bhandarkola, and currently a student at DAV University, Jalandhar, has brought laurels to the country and his hometown by winning a gold medal in the Goal Shot Ball event at the South Asian Championship held in Sri Lanka. In recognition of his achievement, the school organised a felicitation ceremony to honour him.
The championship witnessed participation from seven South Asian nations, including India, Bangladesh, Maldives, Nepal, Bhutan, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Competing against some of the region’s best athletes, Ayush delivered an impressive performance and secured the top podium finish, helping India’s tricolour fly high on the international stage.Hailing from Deoghar, Ayush has already established himself as a promising sportsperson. In 2025, he excelled in powerlifting, winning seven state-level gold medals in the bench press category and earning the Best Lifter title three times. His consistent performances led to his selection in the Jharkhand youth team, where he was one of only two players chosen from the state.School Principal Mohammad Mustafa Majid congratulated Ayush on his remarkable achievement and said that the success reflected his hard work, discipline and dedication to sports. He noted that the institution has always encouraged the holistic development of students and continuously motivates them to excel in academics as well as extracurricular activities. He expressed confidence that Ayush’s accomplishment would inspire the current generation of students to pursue their goals with determination.
Ayush’s success was also supported by the unwavering encouragement of his family. His mother, Alka Soni, and father, Ajay Santoshi, played a vital role in his journey. He also benefited from the guidance of coach Rajesh Ranjan, who served as Team India’s coach during the championship, along with Sanjay Singh and the school’s sports instructors, Satyaveer Yadav and Ashutosh Kumar.Yashbir Singh, Head of Department at DAV University, Jalandhar, also congratulated Ayush and described him as an inspiration for young athletes across the country. Teachers, staff members and students of the school extended their best wishes to Ayush and his family and expressed hope that he would continue to achieve greater milestones in the future.
