Locked traveller vehicle broken into near Shivganga during temple visit

Deoghar.  A major theft incident in broad daylight was reported from Deoghar’s Nagar police station area on Thursday, where 19 pilgrims from Patna City fell victim to thieves while visiting Baba Baidyanath Dham for worship. Unidentified miscreants broke open a traveller vehicle parked near Nehru Park at Shivganga and escaped with cash and valuables worth several lakh rupees.According to reports, the group had arrived in Deoghar on Thursday morning for darshan and worship at Baba Temple. Around 8 am, their traveller vehicle was parked near Nehru Park. Initially, the driver stayed inside the vehicle while the pilgrims went to the temple.After some time, the driver also locked the vehicle and left for breakfast. During this period, thieves allegedly broke the vehicle’s lock and stole the belongings kept inside before fleeing from the spot.The stolen items included 10 mobile phones, Rs 35,000 in cash, 13 bags containing clothes, ATM cards, credit cards, Aadhaar cards, mobile chargers, three wristwatches, purses and other valuables. The total loss has been estimated at around Rs 6 to 7 lakh.The incident came to light nearly four hours later when the pilgrims returned from the temple. On seeing the broken lock and missing belongings, the victims were left shocked.Following the incident, the affected pilgrims lodged a complaint at Nagar police station. The complainants include Vijay Kumar Singh, Sumit Kumar, Ajay Kumar, Rajan Kumar, Saurabh Kumar, Amit Kumar, Amarendra Kumar, Vikas Rai, Rahul Kumar and Ashish Thakur, all residents of Patna City, along with others.Police have started an investigation into the case and are examining CCTV footage from nearby areas to identify the accused involved in the theft.
