Ranchi: The Ranchi district unit of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) on Thursday staged a one-day protest in the state capital against the continuous rise in domestic LPG cylinder prices and growing inflation. A large number of party leaders and workers participated in the demonstration, carrying placards and gas cylinders while raising slogans against the Central government.

Addressing the gathering, JMM leaders alleged that the Central government was burdening common people by repeatedly increasing the prices of cooking gas cylinders. They said inflation had reached alarming levels, severely affecting poor and middle-class families. According to the leaders, household budgets have been disrupted and women are facing the maximum hardship in managing daily expenses.

Women workers participating in the protest displayed empty gas cylinders to express their anger over the rising costs. They said the increasing prices had made it difficult to run households. JMM leaders further claimed that the government was ignoring public concerns while prices of petrol, diesel, food items, and cooking gas continued to rise, impacting the lives of ordinary citizens.

The party leaders said the government, which had promised to control inflation during elections, had failed to provide relief to the people. They warned that if LPG prices were not brought under control soon, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha would intensify its agitation from the streets to the Assembly.

During the protest, workers raised slogans demanding immediate steps to curb inflation. Several speakers said the rising cost of essential commodities had weakened the financial condition of common people and that the public was now demanding accountability from the government.
