Singhbhum Chamber urges faster PNG rollout in Adityapur

Jamshedpur: Reinforcing the need for a robust and future-ready energy ecosystem, a delegation from the Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) convened a strategic meeting with senior officials of GAIL Gas Limited at its Gamharia facility to deliberate on industrial gas supply, PNG connectivity, and network expansion.

The GAIL Gas team, comprising DGM Anshuman Tigga along with Industrial Operations representatives Rahul and Ashutosh, engaged in detailed discussions with SCCI President Manav Kedia, Industry Vice President Harsh Bakrewal, and Secretary Vinod Sharma. 

The dialogue focused on improving access to piped natural gas and strengthening supply infrastructure across the Adityapur industrial corridor.

Officials apprised that gas distribution pipelines have already been commissioned in key industrial phases, including II, IV, VI, and VII, along with select zones in the large sector and areas adjoining the auto cluster.

 In locations where infrastructure is operational, PNG connections are being delivered within a timeframe of two to three months. 

Expansion into uncovered zones, they noted, is being undertaken in response to emerging industrial demand, subject to regulatory compliance and land feasibility.

The meeting also addressed critical technical constraints associated with PNG adoption. Industry representatives highlighted the need for equipment adaptation, particularly burner modifications, and the challenge of pressure limitations, as certain manufacturing processes such as cutting and fabrication require significantly higher pressure than standard PNG supply levels. 

GAIL Gas confirmed ongoing efforts to address these issues while noting that multiple industrial units have already been successfully on boarded, with several applications currently under review.

Against the backdrop of global energy uncertainties, both sides emphasized the urgency of building a dependable and locally resilient gas network to safeguard industrial continuity. 

SCCI leadership stressed that affordable and uninterrupted energy access remains a cornerstone of industrial competitiveness and called for accelerated infrastructure rollout alongside technological innovation.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to deepen collaboration and expedite network expansion, ensuring broader PNG penetration and enhanced energy security for industries in the region.
