Jamshedpur: Tata Motors’ Jamshedpur plant has officially signed its much-awaited grade revision agreement, with the management and workers’ union reaching a consensus ahead of the current term’s expiry a first-of-its-kind move.
The agreement will directly benefit around 7,321 employees, with an estimated salary increase of approximately Rs 20,000 through combined direct and indirect components.
There are also positive indications regarding bonus payouts.
Following the revision, the monthly earnings of senior employees are likely to exceed Rs 1 lakh, marking a significant financial boost.
The grade revision pact, periodically negotiated between the management and the Tata Motors Workers’ Union, includes changes in basic pay, variable pay, and other benefits.
The existing agreement was set to expire on March 31.
In the previous 2022 agreement, employees saw an average increase of about Rs 17,000, including Rs 6,618 in basic pay and nearly Rs 3,000 in variable pay, implemented in phases.
The latest deal comes after multiple rounds of discussions over wages, bonuses, and employee benefits, culminating in a final agreement.
Employees are also keeping a close watch on the long-pending ‘Apna Ghar Yojana,’ which has remained unresolved for nearly nine years despite prior approval.
The agreement has generated a positive response among employees, bringing relief after a prolonged wait.
Meanwhile, momentum is also building for a similar grade revision agreement at Tata Cummins, with expectations of a timely conclusion.
