Education, Health and Tourism Get Major Push in Jharkhand Budget; 100 CM Schools Announced

Ranchi- The Jharkhand government has outlined an ambitious development agenda in its 2026–27 Budget, with major announcements in the education and healthcare sectors, including 100 new CM Schools of Excellence and the proposal for a new university in Chatra.

Healthcare infrastructure will see significant expansion, with Sadar Hospitals in Latehar, Sahebganj and Saraikela-Kharsawan to be upgraded into medical colleges under the PPP model. The government also plans to add 220 MBBS seats in state-run medical colleges, including RIMS, taking the total number of seats to 1,325 over the next four years.

To improve access to medicines, 750 “Abua Dispensaries” will be opened across the state. In aviation infrastructure, an agreement has been signed with the Airports Authority of India to expand Birsa Munda Airport, including extending its runway to 12,000 feet. A greenfield airport has also been proposed in Sahibganj.

Tourism projects such as ropeways, glass bridges, skywalks and eco-friendly attractions at major destinations have also been announced, reflecting the government’s push to combine welfare with long-term economic growth.
