Ranchi- Jharkhand Finance Minister Radha Krishna Kishore on Tuesday presented a Rs 1.58 lakh crore Budget for the financial year 2026–27 in the state Assembly, branding it as the “Abua Dishom Budget” aimed at inclusive, sustainable and welfare-driven growth.
Describing it as a blueprint for “Abua Jharkhand” (Our Jharkhand), the minister said the Budget reflects the government’s commitment to uplifting the poor and ensuring prosperity for all citizens. The total outlay is nearly nine per cent higher than last year’s Rs 1.45 lakh crore Budget.
Kishore alleged that the Government of India had fallen short in financial support, claiming the state received about Rs 16,000 crore less in tax devolution and grants — including Rs 5,000 crore in tax share and Rs 11,000 crore in grants. He also pointed to annual losses of Rs 4,000 crore due to GST rationalisation and additional pressure from the 60:40 funding pattern under central schemes.
Despite fiscal challenges, the state ensured timely salary payments and spent Rs 13,000 crore on the Chief Minister’s Maiya Samman Yojana. Revenue expenditure has been pegged at Rs 1.2 lakh crore, while capital expenditure stands at Rs 37,708 crore, with higher investment in infrastructure, health, education and women’s welfare.
