Chaibasa- A Maoist carrying a reward of ?10 lakh was killed in an encounter with security forces in Jharkhand’s Chaibasa, officials confirmed on Sunday.
The gunfight took place in the Saranda forest under Goilkera police station limits in West Singhbhum district, where security personnel shot dead Amit Hasda alias Aaptan, Superintendent of Police Paras Rana said.
An SLR rifle, explosives, and other arms were recovered from the site. Security teams have since launched a large-scale search operation in the forest to locate other Maoist hideouts.
The encounter comes just days after two policemen were killed and another critically injured during a clash with cadres of the banned Tritiya Sammelan Prastuti Committee (TSPC) in Palamu district on September 3.
