JMM Alleges BJP Plot to Turn Santhal Pargana into Another Manipur

Ranchi: Launching a sharp attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya has alleged that the violence in Bhognadih on June 30 was part of a well-planned conspiracy to destabilise Santhal Pargana and turn it into “another Manipur.”

Addressing the media on Wednesday, Bhattacharya claimed that the incident was pre-scripted as part of a political conspiracy, with senior BJP leaders, including the sitting MP from Godda, allegedly playing a key role. He remarked that the entire plan was "drafted at Deendayal Mart" and executed by BJP-affiliated groups.

“This was no spontaneous event; it was a deliberate, scripted attempt to incite unrest in tribal-dominated Santhal Pargana,” Bhattacharya said.

Expressing concern, he alleged that BJP supporters carried illegal weapons to the government-organised Hul Diwas celebrations, putting the lives of dignitaries, including former Chief Minister Hemant Soren, at risk.

“This was a state function, not a political event. No political party has the right to hoist flags or run parallel programmes at official events like Hul Diwas, just as political activities are prohibited during Republic Day or Gandhi Jayanti celebrations,” he emphasised.

Bhattacharya warned that BJP is trying to trigger caste, communal, and tribal conflicts in Jharkhand, calling for a full investigation into the conspiracy. “Those trying to push Santhal Pargana towards instability will face strict action,” he asserted.

Responding to BJP’s accusation that the current government is more oppressive than the British, Bhattacharya dismissed it as baseless, stating, “No other state gives BJP as much political space as Jharkhand does.”

Regarding Dishom Guru Shibu Soren’s health, Bhattacharya informed that his condition has slightly improved, and he is hopeful that the veteran leader will soon recover and continue to guide the party.

Commenting on Union Minister Nitin Gadkari’s upcoming visit to Ranchi, Bhattacharya said that infrastructure projects like the Kantatoli and Siramtoli flyovers were initiated by Hemant Soren’s government after years of neglect under the previous BJP regime. “These are achievements of our government, not BJP’s charity,” he remarked.

Issuing a final warning to the BJP, Bhattacharya said: “We will not let Jharkhand become Manipur. Any conspiracy to destroy the state’s peace will be crushed firmly.”
