Reservation is not an economic issue but is also about representation: Sudesh

Ranchi: AJSU supremo Sudesh Mahto said that reservation is not all about economic basis but is also related to participation. He said that linking reservation with only economic issue might be injustice to a large section of the people.

Addressing the national convention, state representative meet organised by Akhil Bhartiya pichda varg Sabha he will come to the decision of the central government to provide 10% reservation to the economically weak in the general category, however a large section of population in Jharkhand where is still waiting for their due. He said that OBCs in Jharkhand as compared to their population have not got their due and pointed that mostly reservation is linked with economic perspective but rather more stress should be given so that seats are reserved for the members of the community in educational institution and jobs and even the Parliament needed to rise above political affiliations and think impartially over the issue.

Mr Mahto said that the roaster system in 13 districts should be done away with and also demanded that the data of the socio-economic census should be made out in the open. He said that youth of the community were in anger as despite being in the merit list their quota is being reduced. He said that a large section of the SC ST OBC and minority community was weak in Jharkhand economically and everyone was aware about their issues. Who demanded that the recommendations of the Mandal Commission be implemented in the state and even reservation in the private sector should be provided to the youth of the state.
