Rain fails to dampen spirit of people, devotees carrying umbrellas indulge in pandal hopping

Ranchi: It seems that the heavy rainfall has failed to dampen the spirit of the people in the state capital as despite regular pounding it could not prevent people from coming out on the roads and offering prayers to Maa Durga on the auspicious day of Maha Ashtami.

It had rained in the morning and it kept pouring throughout the evening but as soon as the rains stopped for some time people in large numbers came out on the streets and got themselves busy in Pandal hopping carrying umbrellas or even drenching themselves in rain to enjoy Durga Puja which has been organised on a large scale after Corona pandemic.

In the Ranchi district alone more than 300 Puja organising committees have organised Durga Puja. The big puja organising committees of the capital have all gone out of their way to attract devotees with their unique pandals and eco-friendly idols.

Most of the pandals are based on themes. Big Puja organising committees including Bhartiya Nav Yuvak Sangh Bakri Bazaar, Satya Amar Lok, R R Sporting Club, Harmu Panch Mandir, Kokar Durga Puja Samiti, Ranchi Railway Station committee as usual attracted a heavy turnout of visitors at their pandals with devotees eager to catch glimpse of different idols of Maa Durga and unique feature of the pandals.

The district administration has also made proper arrangements to ensure hassle-free movement for the devotees as not only dozens of drop gates have been put up from where devotees will have to walk to their favourite pandals and has also made adequate security arrangements in the capital with additional 2000 jawans being deputed on security duty. Further entry of heavy vehicles has been also banned in the city.
