First suspected case of Monkeypox detected in Garhwa

Ranchi/Garhwa: Symptoms of Monkeypox have been found in a seven-year-old girl from the Tandwa locality of Garhwa who is being treated separately in a ward at Sadar Hospital. However, the health department has not yet confirmed the occurrence of Monkeypox but the child’s body is said to have symptoms similar to Monkeypox.

Her body is covered in blisters, she feels pain, and a variety of other symptoms. In this regard, District Epidemiologist Dr. Santosh Kumar Mishra had earlier said in an interview that the District Surveillance Team is monitoring the condition of the ailing girl. At present, she is being treated in a ward at Sadar Hospital.

Dr Mishra said that antibiotics were being given to the girl. Along with this, wounds like blisters are being cleaned. He said that the girl’s polymerase chain reaction, blood test, serum test, and samples of the layer around the wound will be sent to ICMR NIV Pune. The girl’s mother is connected to the health department.

Due to symptoms similar to monkeypox in the sick girl, her family members brought her to Sadar Hospital and admitted her. She has been ill for four days. On the basis of the symptoms, the process of treatment and investigation was started.

The doctor said that the virus of monkeypox is transferred through physical touch. The virus does not spread through the air. Dr Kamlesh Kumar, Civil Surgeon of Garhwa Sadar Hospital, said that such diseases happen in the rainy season.

The girl is undergoing treatment at Sadar Hospital. There is no need to panic. He added that the girl has no travel history. However, everything will become clearer following the results of the tests. Four cases of monkeypox have so far been reported in India, three in Kerala and one in Delhi. Monkeypox was declared a global health emergency by the World Health Organization over the weekend.
