With Droupadi Murmu becoming President, World Tribal Day will be special, CNT and Forest Rights Act will now be realised: JMM

Ranchi: The ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha has greeted Droupadi Murmu who was sworn in as the 15th President of the country on Monday and at the same time the party has expressed hope that she will play an important role for the upliftment of the tribal society of the country. 

Addressing a press conference JMM’s senior leader Supriyo Bhattacharya said that the country’s constitution guarantees to maintain the language, culture and customs of the tribal society. In 1996, the Parliament of the country made the PESA Act and hoped that the new President will play a big role in ensuring PESA compliance. 

Adding further he said that after a long struggle people got the Forest Rights Act in 2006 which gives many rights to the people living in the forest and even ‘Ryati Patta’ of land is also available through this.

In the matter of protection of these two laws, the party expects the most from the new President he said. Supriyo Bhattacharya said that the desire to include ‘Adi Dharma Sarna’ in the population has been the desire of the people of the society associated with it.

He said that JMM took initiative in this direction and Chief Minister Hemant Soren got a resolution passed in this regard from the House. He further The all-party delegation, which also included BJP, AJSU Party, Congress, RJD and Left had submitted a demand letter to Home Minister Amit Shah. 

He said that world tribal day which falls on August 9 will be special this time since Droupadi Murmu has become the President. He said that there is a demand from the President to make an announcement regarding the implementation of PESA, Forest Rights Acts literally on the ground on 9th August.

Along with this, the Sarna religion should also be announced to be added to the population column as he will send a good message to the whole world and such an initiative would be special in India from the level of a tribal woman president.
