CM asks newly appointed JPSC officers to make Jharkhand a leading & developed state

Ranchi: Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Friday asked the newly appointed JPSC officers to take a pledge and work so that Jharkhand can shed the image of a backward state and emerge as a leading and developed state of the country.

Addressing a function after he handed over appointment letters to newly appointed officers of 7th-10th JPSC he said that they are getting new responsibilities therefore they needed to play an active role in the development of the state. He said that lakhs of students appear in civil services exams but only a few manage to succeed.

He asked them to work together with the government as people have huge hopes from them and asked them to work together with honesty for the development of the state. He said that despite two decades of state formation rules and regulations were not framed but after his government came into power the rules were made and in a proper manner the vacant posts are being filled. Moreover, the issue of pending promotions of state government was pending but his government is giving promotions to the officials which will help to increase their morale and the posts which will be vacant on the lower level will be filled.

The Chief Minister said earlier it took thousands of days to complete on JPSC exam but is government in ensuring that all the appointments are done within the stipulated time frame. He said that for the 7th-10th JPSC exam there were four times candidates, therefore, four times examination centres were set up but a new record was set as the entire process was completed within 251 days and just within 38 days of publication of the final results the appointment letters are being distributed.

He said that he was happy with the fact that 32 candidates from BPL category have gone on to become officers which shows that the exam of JPSC is being conducted with transparency and impartiality. Hemant Soren said that after the formation of the state positive steps were not taken to give a new direction to the state whose consequences had to be borne by everyone but his government is trying to strengthen the roots of the development of Jharkhand.

He said that to make sure that more poor students can appear in the exams the fee was reduced from Rs 600 to Rs 100 while those for SC and ST were brought down to 100 from Rs 150. Cabinet Ministers Jaggarnath Mahto, Satyanand Bhokta and Badal were also present on the occasion.
