Aftermath of mob violence: Streets wear deserted look in Ranchi, shops closed, police deployed in large numbers

Ranchi: Despite Sunday being the third day of the mob violence that took place on the main road of the capital on June 10, there is silence on the roads of the capital as all the shops and business establishments on the main road are closed and police force has been deployed at various places.

The police are keeping an eye on every visitor, although the district administration has claimed that the situation is under control. Along with the District Police, Rapid Action Force, ATS, and Jaguar personnel were also deployed in Main Road, Bahu Bazar, Karbala Chowk.  Prohibitory orders are imposed in six police station areas of the city.

After Friday Namaz, a violent mob in Ranchi ransacked and pelted stones at the police in which two people died while a dozen others were injured as police were forced to open fire to disperse the trouble makers.  

Post the violence on Friday the administration had stopped the internet service in the capital Ranchi as there was a possibility of spreading rumors through social media however internet services have been restored after about 36 hours on Sunday morning. 

Meanwhile, a high-level committee has been constituted on the instructions of Chief Minister Hemant Soren regarding the violence in Ranchi.  This two-member committee comprises Principal Secretary, Disaster Management Department Amitabh Kaushal and Additional Director General of Police Sanjay Anand Latkar.  The committee has been given the responsibility to investigate the Ranchi violence and submit its report within 7 days.
