Finance Minister’s statement on VAT is ridiculous : Deepak Prakash

Ranchi: State BJP President cum Rajya Sabha MP Deepak Prakash has criticized Finance Minister Rameshwar Oraon’s statement expressing his inability to reduce VAT on petrol and diesel.

He said that the Finance Minister of the state says that why should the state bear this extra burden which is completely ridiculous and worth condemning. He said that the Jharkhand government has no shortage of funds for buying luxury vehicles and constructing luxurious bungalows for Chief Ministers and ministers extravagant.

The purchase of gleaming and new luxury vehicles like Mercedes Benz, Land Rover Discovery, BMW, etc. for the Chief Minister and Ministers is not an extra expenditure in the eyes of the government, but when it comes to giving relief to the people of the state excuses are being made.

The BJP leader said that the Jharkhand government is unable to provide electricity to all while people of the state are not even able to get the vaccine. Further, he said DMFT funds are being misused.

Deepak Prakash said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while talking to the Chief Ministers of the states, had talked about giving relief to the public by suggesting reducing VAT on petrol and diesel but the state government is not reducing VAT. Just as the central government has reduced the excise duty, in the same way, the Jharkhand government should reduce the VAT immediately he said.
