All voters should update their voter identity card online on the app: K Ravi Kumar

Ranchi: Jharkhand’s Chief Electoral Officer K Ravi Kumar has appealed to all the voters to update their voter ID cards online by visiting the Election Commission’s Voter Helpline App which can be done easily on a mobile phone.

Addressing a press conference here he said that those who are not able to do so, they can take this facility from Pragya Kendra. He said that there is a solution to every problem on the app and at the same time by visiting the special camp of the commission people can update the error in name, address, photo etc.

He said that all the people who have turned 18 on January 1, 2021, must register their names in the voter list. For this, correspondence has been made with the principals of all the colleges and appeals have been made for cooperation. For this work, the commission will receive claims and objections from citizens from November 1 to November 30. A special camp will be organized for on November 20, 21, 27 and 28. On November 24, a special camp will be organized for the differently-abled.

The Chief Electoral Officer said that a good electoral roll is necessary for a good election in this regard, the commission is working on the theme of healthy roll, healthy poll. To make it successful efforts will be made to rectify the errors and add new voters throughout the month of November he said adding that a target has been set to make all the works of the Voter List Special Brief Revision Programme 2022 in digital form. In order to expedite the work, the Commission will accept documents self-signed by the citizens.

The Chief Electoral Officer informed that Jharkhand is ranked third in the entire country in BLO checklist work by BLOs through the app, which is a matter of pride and all BLOs deserve congratulations. At the same time, wide publicity is also being done to make the citizens aware. He said that 6 video messages, 6 types of posters and flakes and one audio jingle have been made. A video, an audio jingle and poster and fax were also unveiled on 29 October. During the voter revision program, online poetry writing and painting competitions was organized by the commission for people in the age group of 14 to 17 in which more than 2000 people participated in it. In this, the participants who would come first, second and third will be honoured on the occasion of National Voters’ Day on 25 January 2022.

According to the Chief Electoral Officer, according to the last published voter list on January 15, 2021, there are 2 crore 35 lakh 39 thousand 328 voters in the state. Of these, males are 1,21,89,293 crores, females 1,13,49, 698 and 328 are transgenders. At the same time, the total number of voters of 18 to 19 years are 1,70,280. At the same time, a total of 4,82,806 new voters have been added since the last publication. It includes a total of 2,09,734 voters in the age group of 18 to 20.
