Hemant congratulates PV Sindhu for bagging bronze in Tokyo Olympics, Hockey team for entering semifinals

Ranchi: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Sunday congratulated star shuttler PV Sindhu for bagging the Bronze Medal in Tokyo Olympics.

Sindhu defeated 8th seeded Chinese shuttler He Bing Jiao to the bronze medal match in straight games 21-13, 21-15. Sindhu in the previous Olympics held in Rio had won the Silver Medal in women’s badminton individual event.
PV Sindhu has become the only woman sportsperson from India to have bagged medals in two successive Olympic Games. Hemant Soren said that by winning the medal PV Sindhu has brought laurels for the country.

The Chief Minister has also congratulated the Men’s Hockey Team which entered into the Semi-Finals of the Hockey Tournament. On Twitter the Chief Minister said that by defeating Great Britain 3-1 the team has managed to enter the Olympics and he was proud of the team.

India after 1972 Munich Olympics will be for the first time play in the semifinals of Hockey event. India had last won the gold in the Moscow Olympics of 1980 in Hockey.
