Ranchi, Feb 5: Secretary of Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs Durga Shankar Mishr on Friday held a high level meeting at the project building during which he reviewed the execution of various centre sponsored schemes.
During the meeting the union secretary said that across the world the urban population was rapidly increasing and India in the next three decades it is expected that the urban population will double therefore keeping the rising population into mind efforts needed to be made in the area of urbanization.
He said that urbanization will also help in strengthening the economy of the country. The union secretary expressed his satisfaction over the progress in execution of various schemes and said that Jharkhand is among the leading states as far as execution of schemes was concerned and this needed to be maintained and more speed should be added for the execution of the projects
Secretary of Urban Development and Housing Department Jharkhand Vinay Kumar Choubey detailed over the requirements of the cities and also detailed the progress being made in execution of schemes. He said that the department was doing a close monitoring of the schemes and said that efforts are being made so that from the municipal level to the state level there is no delay in implementation of the programs.
During the meeting the union secretary said that there was a need to work more in the areas of public transport and providing water in every tap of the household for which the central government is going to soon launch many new schemes. He said that that the union ministry wanted Jharkhand to take advantages of these schemes and asked to submit a proposal for any one City for a Metro Neo project, on this Vinay Kumar Choubey said that the state government is starting many new schemes for providing 24 hours water supply in the homes and will also submit a proposal in this regard to the centre. He said that in Ranchi Dhanbad and Jamshedpur work was on Intercity bus scheme and soon the centre will be informed. He assured that a proposal for Metro Neo project in Ranchi will be made and submitted to the centre.
Mr Mishr suggested that the Lighthouse project being implemented in Jharkhand should be completed on time so that it can emerge as a model for other states. He said that the technology being used for this project in Jharkhand is among the latest technology in the world and also directed to speed up work under Pradhanmantri Aawas Yojana and suggested that under PM Swanidhi Yojana the street vendors should be linked with Swiggy and Zomato. The union secretary also reviewed the progress of Amrut Yojana being implemented in seven districts of Jharkhand.
Various other officers including Ranchi town commissioner Mukesh Kumar SUDA director Amit Kumar DMA director Vijay Jadhav were present in the meeting.
