Former IPS officer Amitabh Choudhary appointed JPSC chairman

Ranchi: Former IPS officer Amitabh Choudhary has been appointed as the new chairman of the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC).

A notification in this regard has been issued by the Personnel Administrative Reforms and Rajbhasha Department. 

As per the notification whose date of birth is July 6, 1960, would remain on his post till July 5, 2022. The post of JPSC chairman had been lying vacant since September after the tenure of Sudhir Tripathi came to an end.

At present apart from the JPSC chairman, there are four more posts of members in JPSC.

Amitabh Choudhary did his engineering from IIT Kharagpur and later cleared UPSC and became an IPS officer of Bihar cadre and posted creation of Jharkhand he came to Jharkhand Cadre.

He became a BCCI member in 2002 and in 2005 he defeated the then deputy Chief Minister Sudesh Mahto and became JSCA president. From 2005 to 2009 he served as manager of the Indian Cricket Team. In 2013 he took VRS from the job and joined politics. He even contested Lok Sabha polls in 2014 from Ranchi on a JVM-P ticket but could not win.
