BJP names Louis Marandi and Yogeshwar Mahto Batul as candidates for bypolls on Dumka and Bermo seat

Ranchi: The BJP on Sunday declared the names of Louis Marandi and Yogeshwar Mahto Batul as its candidates for the bypolls on Dumka and Bermo seat respectively. 

State General Secretary of the party Aditya Sahu on Sunday said that the central election committee of the party has cleared both the names. 

While Louis Marandi and Yogeshwar Mahto had won in the Assembly elections from Dumka and Bermo seat in the year 2014, they had lost in the assembly elections of 2019.

The Congress party has already announced the candidature of Jaimangal Singh from Bermo while Basant Soren would be contesting from Dumka seat.

Candidates can file their nominations on these seats till October 16 while scrutiny of the nomination papers would be held on October 17 while the last date for withdrawal of nominations is October 19.

The voting on these two seats will take place on November 3 while counting of voting would be done on November 10.

The bypolls on these two seats are being held as Chief Minister Hemant Soren who won from both Dumka and Barhet seats of Santhal Pargana resigned from Dumka and took oath as the member of the house as an MLA from Barhet while the Bermo seat fell vacant following the demise of Congress heavyweight leader Rajendra Singh.
