Congress stages dharna, Raj Bhawan March against Agriculture bills

Ranchi: Senior leaders and the workers of the Congress party on Monday staged a dharna at the Morhabadi Grounds and later took out a Raj Bhawan march protesting against the new Agriculture Laws.

Incharge for party affairs in Jharkhand RPN Singh, JPCC chief Dr Rameshwar Oraon, CLP  leader Alamgir Aalam, along with cabinet ministers in the state government, several MPs and MLAs participated in the agitation programme. Later a delegation of the party led by RPN Singh reached the Raj Bhawan and handed over a memorandum to the Governor addressed to the President.

Earlier Mr Singh said that 70 years ago the Congress party had abolished the Zamindari system which the BJP was again trying to impose in the country. He said that the Congress party was standing with the 62 crore farmers of the country and until the black law is withdrawn the agitation would continue.

Addressing partymen Dr Rameshwar Oraon said that as part of a conspiracy an attempt was being made to abolish the markets. He said that the black law would destroy employment in the agriculture sector while the contract farming would also harm the farmers and the consumers. Dr Oraon said that earlier also it was claimed that GST would be beneficial for the country but all states are running into losses.

Congress legislature wing leader Alamgir Aalam said that the manner in which the agriculture bills were passed in the parliament is against the parliamentary traditions and also hits the federal structure of the country. He said that whom the farmers would approach if the corporate houses would pay less money for their produce.
