Mrunal Thakur Warns Against Deepfakes, Says Misuse of Her Identity Will Invite Legal Action

Mumbai: Actress Mrunal Thakur has issued a strong warning against the creation and circulation of deepfake content using her identity, stating that anyone involved in such activities could face legal action.

Taking to social media on Tuesday, the actress shared a firm note addressing the growing misuse of artificial intelligence to create fake content.

"Creating or sharing deepfake content using my likeness is illegal and unacceptable. Consider this your formal notice to stop immediately. Any further misuse of my identity will result in legal action," she wrote.

However, Mrunal did not reveal which specific deepfake content or social media account prompted her statement.

The actress was recently in the spotlight after a video of her energetic dance performance at a friend's wedding went viral on social media.

Mrunal began her acting career with the television show Kumkum Bhagya, where she played Bulbul, the younger sister of the lead character portrayed by Sriti Jha. She later made a successful transition to films and earned acclaim for performances in movies such as Love Sonia, Super 30, Batla House, Sita Ramam, Hi Nanna, The Family Star and Son of Sardaar 2.

She was last seen in Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai alongside Varun Dhawan and Pooja Hegde. The film marked the final directorial venture of veteran filmmaker David Dhawan, who had announced at the trailer launch that it would be his last film.
