Chennai: Popular actress Payal Rajput, known for her powerful performances in films such as RX100, RDX Love, and Mangalavaram, has opened up about the challenges she continues to face in the film industry, stating that despite pressure to quit, she remains determined to move forward.
Sharing her thoughts on social media platform X, Payal wrote, “They want me to quit, and I find myself questioning whether I should. But then I think about the hard work I’ve put in over the last 12 years. So I tell myself no. I may fail, but I won’t give up. #justthinking.”
The actress has previously spoken candidly about issues of nepotism and favoritism within the industry. Last year, she posted about how talent often takes a back seat to privilege in cinema.
“Being an actor is one of the toughest careers out there. Every day begins with uncertainty, as I step into an industry where nepotism and favoritism often overshadow talent,” she had written.
Payal also admitted that there are moments when self-doubt creeps in, especially when opportunities seem to favor those with influential backgrounds.
“There are times when I wonder if my hard work and dedication will ever be enough in a space dominated by privilege. I see roles going to people with famous surnames or powerful agents and question whether talent alone can break through,” she said, adding the hashtag #StruggleIsReal to underline the reality faced by many outsiders.
On the work front, Payal Rajput is currently busy with several upcoming projects. She will be seen in the Telugu film VenkataLachimi, directed by Muni, which is slated for release in Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi.
She is also playing the female lead opposite Legend Saravanan in his second Tamil film, directed by acclaimed filmmaker R. S. Durai Senthilkumar. The film also stars Shaam and Andrea in important roles.
The untitled project is a high-budget venture helmed by Durai Senthilkumar, known for successful films such as Kakki Sattai, Kodi, and the recent hit Garudan. The first schedule of the film was completed in Chennai, while the second phase was shot in and around Panikka Nadar Kudiyiruppu in Thoothukudi, the hometown of Legend Saravanan.
Sources indicate that the film is a gripping, action-packed drama inspired by real-life events and set against the backdrop of Thoothukudi.
The film’s music is composed by Gibran, with cinematography by S. Venkatesh and editing by Pradeep. Art direction is handled by Durairaj, and Ambikapathi serves as the executive producer.
