Dia Mirza Cherishes a Special Saree Gifted by Shabana Azmi

Mumbai— Actress Dia Mirza has received a heartfelt and meaningful gift from veteran actress Shabana Azmi — a vibrant yellow saree that Dia says she will treasure for life.

Dia shared several beautiful pictures on Instagram, posing gracefully in the saree while surrounded by nature. She expressed that wearing the saree made her feel connected to everything Shabana’s mother, Shaukat Azmi, represented.

In her caption, Dia included a line from the celebrated poem “Aurat” written by Shabana’s father, poet Kaifi Azmi, dedicated to his wife:
“Uthh meri jaan mere saath hee chalna hain tujhe.”
Dia wrote that she carried the essence of Shaukat Azmi along with this powerful poem while wearing the saree.

The Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein actress also thanked Shabana warmly, saying:
“@azmishabana18 thank YOU for this saree. You have always enriched my life in ways that only you can. I will cherish and wear this saree for life.”

Dia is part of Shabana’s close-knit girl gang. During Diwali this year, the group — including Konkona Sen Sharma, Vidya Balan, Richa Chadha, Ali Fazal, Shahana Goswami, Divya Dutta, Tannishtha Chatterjee, and Shabana’s husband Javed Akhtar — gathered for an intimate celebration.

Shabana shared a cheerful group selfie from the evening, writing:
“Happy Diwali gathering of the Dher Saara Pyar gang to celebrate #Tiger Tan’s indomitable spirit and her glorious Busan award.”
She also mentioned missing Urmila Matondkar and Sandhya Mridul at the celebration.

Shabana further thanked Anu for the delicious food, especially the Tender Coconut Panna Cotta — nicknamed “Tenco” by Javed Akhtar — and tagged the attendees.
