Actress Rukmini Vasanth, who recently earned widespread acclaim for her performance in Kantara: A Legend Chapter-1, has opened up about the films and habits that keep her grounded during her hectic work schedules. Among her favourite comfort watches is the Shah Rukh Khan–starrer Om Shanti Om, the beloved Farah Khan classic.
Despite long shoot days, constant costume changes, and scripts that demand full concentration, Rukmini always finds time for small joys that refresh her mind. Whether it’s sketching between shots, revisiting childhood comics, or rewatching films she knows by heart, these rituals help her stay centred.
“One habit I’ve fostered is keeping my attention focused on one thing on set,” she shared. “Phones scatter focus. So I journal sometimes, or sketch. Sketching helps because for those minutes you are deeply focused on one object, without emotionally drifting away from the character.”
Recalling her childhood, she fondly remembered reading Amar Chitra Katha and Tinkle comics, even acting out Supandi stories for amused adults: “I used to enact Supandi for people — poor people probably humoured a five-year-old going, ‘Supandi walks here, Supandi looks there’.”
Calling herself a “big re-watcher,” Rukmini revealed her go-to comfort watches. For intensity, she chooses Dark; for pure humour, Derry Girls; and for nostalgia and warmth, Om Shanti Om. “It pokes fun at the industry with affection, never cynicism. I find something new every time,” she said.
As she gears up for Toxic: A Fairytale for Grownups alongside Yash and an upcoming film with Jr NTR, Rukmini’s career is entering an exciting new phase. Yet, amid the scale and spectacle of her growing filmography, she continues to cherish the simple favourites that keep her grounded.
