Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo mark their friendship with matching tattoos to celebrate ‘Wicked’

Los Angeles — Actress-singer Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo have sealed their off-screen friendship with matching tattoos inspired by their upcoming film Wicked: For Good.

In a recent Instagram post, the 32-year-old pop star shared her excitement as the countdown begins for the release of For Good, the sequel and continuation of 2024’s Wicked, People magazine reported.

“Happy Wicked month @wickedmovie — 20 days,” Grande captioned the post, which featured a behind-the-scenes photo with Erivo, 38, and another showing their hands with matching ‘For Good’ tattoos inked on their palms — a nod to one of the musical’s most iconic songs.

According to People, the Wicked cast and crew have spoken openly about the deep bond that has formed between the two stars, who play Glinda and Elphaba respectively in the highly anticipated film adaptation of the Broadway classic.

Director Jon M. Chu described their relationship as “one of the most beautiful friendships to watch grow.”

“These two are among the biggest voices of our time — they could have been rivals,” said Chu, 46. “There could have been diva drama, but they always put Wicked ahead of themselves. That’s the mark of true artists — they immersed themselves so deeply in Glinda and Elphaba that they found themselves within those characters.”

He added, “Their connection made Elphaba and Glinda feel larger than life. What they bring to these roles makes the story more intimate and emotionally powerful, and that made my job much easier.”

In the upcoming big-screen adaptation, Erivo and Grande take on the roles originally made famous by Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth in the Broadway production.
