Los Angeles- Hollywood actor Tom Holland sustained a mild concussion while shooting for his upcoming superhero film Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
According to Variety, Holland will be taking a short break from filming as a precautionary measure and is expected to return to set within a few days. No other injuries were reported during the incident. Sony, which is producing the movie in collaboration with Marvel Studios, is scheduled to meet on Monday to discuss the way forward. Production began in Glasgow in early August, with the film slated for a theatrical release on July 31 next year.
Last month, Sony shared a behind-the-scenes video of Holland in his new Spider-Man suit — his first time donning the costume since 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home.
“It’s day one, my fourth ever day one on Spider-Man. It feels different this time, somehow. Also, for the first time, we had fans present on the first day, which made it really exciting to share with them,” Holland said in the video.
“We’ve got some familiar faces on set. I’ll just do my best, hopefully get it right — no pressure,” he added.
The cast includes returning Spider-Man stars Zendaya and Jacob Batalon, along with new additions to the Marvel Cinematic Universe such as The Bear star Liza Colón-Zayas, Severance Emmy-winner Tramell Tillman, and Stranger Things breakout Sadie Sink. Mark Ruffalo will reprise his role as Bruce Banner/The Hulk, Jon Bernthal returns as the Punisher, and Michael Mando will once again appear as Scorpion.
Earlier this month, Holland explained why he receives a new Spider-Man suit every two weeks. In an interview with Esquire, he said: “Yeah, I probably get a new suit every two weeks, I reckon.”
Holland began acting at the age of nine after a choreographer spotted him in a dance class and arranged an audition for Billy Elliot the Musical at London’s Victoria Palace Theatre. After two years of training, he landed a supporting role in 2008 and was later promoted to the lead role, which he performed until 2010.
He made his film debut in 2012 with the disaster drama The Impossible, portraying a teenage tourist caught in a tsunami. He later pursued acting full-time, appearing in How I Live Now, playing key roles in In the Heart of the Sea, and the acclaimed TV miniseries Wolf Hall.
