Chitrangda on Trying Comedy for the First Time: 'I Had to Let Go of Control and Embrace the Madness'

Mumbai – Actress Chitrangda Singh, who ventured into comedy for the first time with Housefull 5, admitted she was initially nervous but eventually found joy in embracing the chaos.

“I was nervous, honestly. Everyone else had already found their rhythm, and I was still getting my bearings,” Chitrangda said.

However, she quickly adapted.

“Once I caught the rhythm, I was having the time of my life,” she shared.

The film, directed by Tarun Mansukhani, also saw her performing some action sequences.

“There were no rehearsals—I just jumped right into it on set. I was punching, kicking, getting knocked around... I felt like a kid again,” she said.

Known for her more intense and romantic roles, playing the quirky and spirited character Maya was a refreshing shift for her.

“Honestly, it was liberating,” Chitrangda said. “I had to let go of control and just enjoy the madness.”

Housefull 5 features a star-studded cast including Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh, Jacqueline Fernandez, Sonam Bajwa, along with Nargis Fakhri, Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff, Nana Patekar, Fardeen Khan, Chunky Pandey, Johnny Lever, Shreyas Talpade, Dino Morea, Ranjeet, Soundarya Sharma, Nikitin Dheer, and Akashdeep Sabir.

Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala under the Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment banner, the film was released on June 6.

In June, Chitrangda also shared an emotional update about her upcoming film Parikrama, directed by Goutam Ghose. The film, which also stars Marco Leonardi and Cristina Donadio, left a deep impact on her.

Taking to Instagram, she wrote:
“There are some films that entertain us… and then there are stories that need to be told. Parikrama is one such film I had the pleasure to be part of. Shooting it was an emotional experience for me.”

She also expressed gratitude to director Goutam Ghose, the only Indian recipient of Italy’s prestigious "Vittorio Di Sica" Award (1997).

Further details about Parikrama are still under wraps.
