Dia Mirza Says RHTDM Theme Has Defined the Song of Her Adult Life

Mumbai – Actress and former beauty queen Dia Mirza has shared her heartfelt gratitude for her debut film Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein (RHTDM), released in 2001, acknowledging the movie's profound impact on her life.

Taking to Instagram, Dia posted a radiant selfie wearing a white kurta, her signature doe-eyed charm on full display as she smiled gently at the camera.

Accompanying the post was the film’s iconic rain theme music — the very tune that introduced her character, Reena, to audiences in Gautham Vasudev Menon’s cult classic.

“This tune has, in so many ways, defined the song of my adult life,” Dia wrote in the caption. “I was 19 when I danced in the rain with children… the first visual that introduced me as an actor. The film’s title reflects the very essence of the hope we all carry on this journey called LIFE.”

She went on to express her deep appreciation to fans:
Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein — Then, Now and Always… I’m so, so grateful for your acceptance, your generosity, and your love.”

The romantic drama also starred R. Madhavan, Saif Ali Khan, and Anupam Kher. It was a remake of Menon’s Tamil hit Minnale, with Madhavan reprising his lead role. The film marked the official Bollywood debut for both Dia Mirza and Tamil actor R. Madhavan (following a brief uncredited appearance in Is Raat Ki Subah Nahin).

The story follows the romantic journey of Madhav "Maddy" Shastri and Reena Malhotra, who is engaged to Rajeev "Sam" Samra — a U.S.-based professional and Maddy’s former college rival.

Dia Mirza’s recent work includes Nadaaniyan, directed by Shauna Gautam, featuring Ibrahim Ali Khan, Khushi Kapoor, Mahima Chaudhry, Suniel Shetty, and Jugal Hansraj.
