Mumbai: Playback singer Jonita Gandhi has unveiled her newest song ‘Beparwai’ and offered insights into its creation, explaining the emotions and ideas that shaped the track.
In a recent conversation with IANS, Jonita shared that Beparwai embodies the spirit of being carefree and letting go of worries about societal judgment.
“The song was born during a session in Toronto,” Jonita said. “That day, I was feeling a bit cynical about the world — about how we often get influenced by what others think of us. There are moments when we just want to break free and say, ‘I want to live on my own terms now.’ That’s the feeling captured in the chorus: ‘Now I'm just carefree.’ I still wanted it to sound like a typical Jonita song.”
She added that she stayed true to her signature style, using a soft vocal tone, and collaborated with her frequent producer, Ariza, to maintain a consistent sound with her other work.
The track was created entirely through electronic production, with no live instruments used. “From what I know, there were no live instruments involved. It’s all electronic. It’s upbeat, breezy — definitely a dance number, but with attitude,” she explained.
Jonita emphasized that Beparwai is about embracing one's individuality without shame. “This song is my way of telling everyone — and reminding myself — that it’s okay to be unapologetically yourself. We don’t always have to worry about the world’s opinions. Sometimes, we just need to do what brings us joy.”
Beparwai is now available on all major streaming platforms.
