New Delhi: Tata Electronics has entered into a strategic partnership with Japan-based ROHM Co. to manufacture semiconductors in India for both domestic and global markets, the two companies announced in a joint statement on Monday.
As part of the initial phase of the collaboration, Tata Electronics and ROHM will establish a manufacturing framework focused on power semiconductors in India. The partnership will bring together ROHM’s advanced device technologies and Tata Electronics’ expertise in semiconductor assembly and testing.
“Through our semiconductor assembly and test facilities, Tata Electronics will deliver chip packaging services to support ROHM in creating products tailored for Indian and global markets,” said Randhir Thakur, CEO and Managing Director of Tata Electronics.
He added that the collaboration would strengthen trust and resilience in the global semiconductor supply chain while also expanding business opportunities for both companies.
The partnership also aims to tap into India’s growing semiconductor ecosystem by leveraging the sales channels and networks of both firms. Through this approach, Tata Electronics and ROHM plan to offer higher-value semiconductor solutions to customers across multiple sectors.
Under the agreement, Tata Electronics will assemble and test ROHM’s India-designed automotive-grade N-channel 100V, 300A silicon MOSFET in a TOLL package. The companies are targeting mass production shipments of this product by next year.
Looking ahead, both companies will explore opportunities to co-develop high-value packaging technologies. They will also jointly market the semiconductor products manufactured under this collaboration in India as well as overseas markets.
Commenting on the partnership, Kazuhide Ino, Member of the Board and Managing Executive Officer at ROHM, said the collaboration would help expand ROHM’s portfolio of packaged products manufactured in India and support the development of a sustainable, region-based semiconductor supply chain.
