PLI Scheme for White Goods: 13 Companies Commit Rs.1,914 Crore Investment in Fourth Round

New Delhi — Thirteen companies have submitted applications with a total committed investment of ?1,914 crore in the fourth round of the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for White Goods (Air Conditioners and LED Lights), the government announced on Thursday.

The application window for this round remained open from September 15 to November 10, 2025.

With this, the PLI scheme for White Goods has so far attracted ?10,335 crore in committed investments from 80 approved beneficiaries. The scheme is expected to generate ?1.72 lakh crore in production and create around 60,000 direct jobs across India.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, over 50 per cent of the new applicants are Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) — a sign of growing confidence among smaller businesses in joining the air conditioner and LED manufacturing ecosystem.

Among the 13 applicants, one existing beneficiary under the PLI scheme has committed an additional ?15 crore investment.

Out of the total, nine companies (75 per cent) have applied to manufacture air conditioner components, proposing a combined investment of ?1,816 crore. These investments will focus on producing copper tubes, aluminium stock, compressors, motors, heat exchangers, control assemblies, and other high-value parts.

The remaining four companies have proposed ?98 crore in investments to manufacture LED components, including LED chips, drivers, and heat sinks.

The proposed projects span six states, covering 13 districts and 23 locations, contributing to regional industrial growth and job creation.

Approved by the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 7, 2021, the PLI Scheme for White Goods — with a total outlay of ?6,238 crore — aims to develop a complete component ecosystem for air conditioners and LED lights in India.

The initiative is projected to raise domestic value addition from the current 15–20 per cent to 75–80 per cent, positioning India as a major global manufacturing hub for white goods.
