New Delhi- Renault India on Saturday announced major price cuts across its lineup following the rollout of GST 2.0, passing the entire benefit to customers.
The company’s three models—Kwid, Triber, and Kiger—are now cheaper by up to ?96,395. With the new pricing, the Kwid starts at ?4,29,900 (ex-showroom), while both the updated Triber and Kiger begin at ?5,76,300 (ex-showroom).
The revised rates will apply to all deliveries made on or after September 22, though customers can already book at the updated prices.
“Passing on the full GST 2.0 benefit reflects our unwavering commitment to customers. This step will not only make our cars more affordable but also boost demand during the festive season,” said Venkatram Mamillapalle, Managing Director, Renault India.
Renault’s move comes on the heels of Tata Motors’ announcement to pass on GST benefits, with price reductions of up to ?75,000 on the Tiago and up to ?1,55,000 on the Nexon.
Under the new GST 2.0 regime, all internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles are taxed at either 18% or 40%. Smaller cars such as hatchbacks, compact sedans, and compact SUVs fall under the 18% slab, while larger and luxury models are taxed at 40%. Previously, ICE vehicles were subject to 28% GST plus a compensation cess ranging from 1% to 22%, depending on size and engine capacity.
For electric vehicles, GST remains at 5%, while hydrogen fuel cell vehicles (FCEVs) have seen a reduction from 12% to 5%. Industry players including Mahindra & Mahindra and Maruti Suzuki are also expected to roll out revised prices before the new tax rates take effect on September 22.
